Ortiz-Gadler was born in Siena in 2004 as an art Studio and jewellery workshop when Ethel Ortiz, an Argentine anthropologist , and her daughter Dolores Gadler, translator, decided to combine their passion for art, jewellery and handmade objects, giving life to a long-desired project.
The main material of their creations is recycled paper: hand painted, decorated and dyed. They also reuse magazine paper which acquires a new life in their collages that make up their fantastic pieces.
Unconventional materials such as resin and pigments are combined with paper. The result are objects with an urban and contemporary dimension while they remain faithful to the essence of a handmade object: a precious thing that is unique, different from the rest and full of life on its own.
“...we love paper, a material that represent femininity: it transmits delicacy and seems to be extremely fragile but it hides a great strength, determination and character, being also highly versatile."
