German designer Michaela Binder works with strong geometrical shapes and contrasting textures. Her jewellery combines squares, rectangles, and circles in brushed silver with soft and sensuous materials as felt and fur.
“... what fascinates me is the functional language of definite shapes combined with playful easiness. all my pieces of jewellery are interchangeable.”
Her design philosophy aims to identify complete contrasts to established conceptions. whereas normally colour effects are created by using precious or semi-precious stones, my jewellery shines through felt, which is soft, completely colourful, easy to mix and match, high-spirited.
“... in my understanding colours stand for zest for life. Ranging from respectable forest green to provative shocking pink, any jewellery enthusiast has a choise of continually (re-)desingning her piece of jewellery to suits her outfit and her mood.”
Her silver and felt jewellery include a set of interchangeable felt pieces in different colors for its final composition.
Michaela Binder has her own studio and Galery in Berlin.
